Eye Care Cosmetics
ideal for contact lens wearers and people with sensitive eyes this is makeup and skincare you can wear all day, every day.
Patrice and Danielle Soyer, both graduates in Pharmacy from the University of Paris, were specialists in the development and production of products for contact lenses when they founded the Contapharm Laboratories in 1981. Backed by their savoir-faire and in collaboration with eye specialists and opticians, they identified a problem specific to women who wear contact lenses:
Intolerance, in and around the eye, to traditional skincare and makeup products (including hypoallergenic ones)
This problem affects more than half of all women, has no direct relation to any substance identifiable by patch testing, is often linked to a natural predisposition (skin type, sensitive or watery eyes, age, heredity) or to conditions of modern life (stress, pollution, aggressive products, hard water, dieting, unhealthy eating habits, air-conditioning, smoking).
By combining in-depth studies of eye and skin physiology with knowledge gleaned from biomaterial used in contactology, they came up with the concept of bio-inertia formulations. Initially applied to makeup for contact lens wearers, the concept has progressively spread and Eye Care Cosmetics now offers a complete range of skincare and makeup products for those with dry eyes, sensitive eyes and sensitive skin.
Today, Eye Care Cosmetics is distributed in over 35 countries worldwide and is recognised by healthcare professionals (dermatologists, allergy-specialists, ophthalmologists) and women who want to be sure of their beauty products, to be one of the leading reference brands in high tolerance/hypoallergenic cosmetics.

BIO-INERTIA
The key is the bio-inertia of the formulations, an original concept from the Contapharm Laboratories, which aims to respect the users of the product and the environment. This is achieved by:
- Ultramicronisation of all the solid particles down to less than 15µm (60% <5µm) because the cells of the cornea measure 8-18µm
- Use of non-ionic surface-active agents
- Exclusive use of natural pigments which are insoluble in water
- Maintenance of the ocular pH (7.2-7.3) or of the cutaneous pH (5.5)
- Maintenance of isotonicity for the aqueous products or containing water (300 mOsm)
