Here at Butterflies Healthcare, we support other local businesses as much as we can. We were approached by local Oxfordshire professional photographer Emma Durrant. We have worked with Emma before on a photoshoot for NATorigin and product photography.
After starting her successful business in general photography, it now includes everything from weddings to commercial, high end, fashion and photography to the stars. Emma has found her success growing every day and has now been published in books selling in high-street shops and online being commended on her work for creative successful modelling poses and works of photographic art.
We were thrilled to be asked to sponsor Emma’s next exciting venture. She has just finished “The Official Cancer Research UK Calendar for 2014” featuring the Project Girls. This a group of local Banbury women who responded to Emma’s request for models after a close family relation developed lung cancer. The calendar shows a series of tasteful poses celebrating these courageous women, many who have lost someone to cancer themselves.
“Some of them were my friends but others were women who had heard through the grapevine and wanted to help,” said Ms Durrant, of Middleton Cheney.
Emma approached Cancer Research with her edited photos and they liked them so much she was delighted to be chosen to complete the calendar. They fund over half of the UK’s cancer research, including the life-saving work of over 4000 scientists, doctors and nurses fighting cancer on all fronts. Since 1902, their researchers have discovered cancer drugs such as carboplatin, tamoxifen and Herceptin, doubling survival rates in the last forty years. As well as helping millions of people get the information they need to understand the disease, their ambition is to ‘bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.’
With the skilful use of brightly coloured props, Emma has used her creativity to celebrate women and each page is printed with a logo from our range of products. In particular NATorigin, our range of natural and organic skincare and cosmetics, is popular with women wishing to avoid chemicals or who have developed skin sensitivity as a result of cancer treatment.
Emma successfully put the charity shoot together herself and the calendar has been printed and was launched on the 21st June 2013 – with a press release and successful fundraising launch night at AKA – “Also Known As” in Banbury Oxfordshire.
If the 1,000 printed copies of Project Girls are sold, Emma and her calendar girls will have raised a magnificent £10,000 to hand over to Cancer Research. You can buy your copy and support this worthy cause at Cancer Research UK Calendar 2014.
All proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go to Cancer Research ensuring that we can all be part of the fight against cancer – share, fundraise, donate – every action counts.
